Hi everyone, like all of you, we were hoping to see better numbers with COVID-19 but unfortunately the numbers are not going the right way at this time.

Keeping your safety and the safety of our loved ones in mind, we have decided to suspend all in-class trainings for now.

We are not entirely sure what the future holds (Siri misplaced my crystal ball) but we are taking this time to focus on our own practices and consider what changes may be necessary for the future of NASYS.

A recent testimonial from a YTT 200 student:
I just finished my YTT 200 with NASYS and wow, what an amazing experience it was! Brett, Siri, Shirley and Naresh are knowledgeable teachers and beautiful humans, each offering a unique and valuable perspective. I feel like I’ve been given such a solid foundation as I step into teaching yoga, and there’s been so much love and support each step along the way. I have learned and grown so much through this program and I can’t recommend it highly enough!

Recent testimonials:

I have been inspired to be a better version of myself and thank-you for that.

An amazing class taught by two of the most beautiful people!!! Thank you Brett and Siri for sharing your compassion with us. And a big thank you to Joy for a wonderful facility.

Thank you for your guidance. It has been an amazing learning journey for me.
Brett - you have made anatomy so much more interesting for me unlike the previous courses that I have taken and everything just makes sense now. Together with Siri and both of your extensive knowledge in health science and meditation cum mindfulness, this training has exposed me to an area of interest that I would like to explore further. Naresh, on the other hand, has invoked my deeper connection to the yoga philosophy and asanas. I hope to adhere to the Yamas and Niyamas at the best that I could in my life. Of course, it is always so nice to have our ever so gentle Shirley in the class.  IL

The North American School of Yoga Science is founded by physiotherapist, Dr. Brett Wade and occupational therapist Siri Marken.  Their backgrounds in physiotherapy and occupational therapy inspired them to develop a yoga teacher training with an emphasis on health and wellness.

This unique training weaves together:  anatomy, biomechanics, pathology, and rehabilitation.  While respecting the origins of the practice, Wade and Marken are adding to the traditional teachings with their own perspectives and backgrounds.

Anatomy

The anatomy sections of our 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training is robust.  A student can expect to graduate with a deeper understanding of human anatomy.  Anatomy in both the 200 and 500 hour training is taught by physiotherapist and college professor Dr. Brett Wade, PhD, PT, RYT-200 and Occupational Therapist and yoga instructor, Siri Marken, MEd, OT, RYT-500, E-RYT 200.

Alignment

Alignment is a major focus of the curriculum.  Marken and Wade were aware of the significant number of yoga injuries occurring and wanted a curriculum that would focus on alignment through an understanding of the anatomy and individual variations of the human body.

Asanas

The hatha-based asanas (postures) for our 200 hour training and 300 hour training will provide you with the basics for understanding how to safely perform asanas, modify for pathology, and learn to effectively teach.  You will learn how the asanas can be linked together for vinyasa or flow style of yoga.
