This module is an exploration of the energy of the subtle body and how it relates to health and happiness. Explore the use of yoga as a conduit to the energy of the subtle body and how to describe and sense energies in the practice of yoga in the following: The 5 Koshas in the body (physical, breath/energy, mental, wisdom, bliss); the nervous system of the body- central and peripheral nervous system; the energy channels; the energy centers including nerve plexuses and the Chakras. Included in this module will be the use of bandhas and the effect on energy ; Chakra mediation, chanting, and visualization; techniques to sense and perceive energy/prana/life force.
Yoga is a powerful tool to promote contentment and happiness. An introduction the effect of yoga on creating happiness in the individual, and the research on the role of yoga as a tool for maintaining and improving a sense of happiness and contentment and even bliss. What are common challenges to a sense of happiness and contentment? Techniques in teaching yoga for happiness • The benefits of both an energetic practice and the benefits of a slower practice of yoga • Creating a safe space • Grounding and self-soothing techniques • Exploration of vulnerable poses and poses that feel safe • Special considerations in planning a class or series for happiness and contentment (Intention setting, readings, class set-up, music, mediation, breath work, asana.)
